July 6, 1957, 52 years ago, history was made. John Lennon (16) was playing with his band, The Quarrymen, at St. Peter’s Woolton Parish in Liverpool, England. Paul McCartney (15) was riding his bicycle hoping to pick up some ladies when he heard the music. A mutual friend, Ivan Vaughan, introduced Paul to John, and the friendship began. Paul whipped out the guitar strapped to his back and played some tunes. John said that he “dug him.” That October, Ivan told Paul that John wanted him in the band. The rest, as they say, is history.
On July 6, 1964, just 7 years later, The Beatle’s first film, “A Hard Day’s Night” had its royal premiere at London’s Pavillion Theatre. The movie opened in the US the next month.
The Beatles are my favorite band, that’s why i know so much about them.
